Combine alcoholism, child abuse, insurance fraud, a loony lawyer, a despicable drug czar, and a worn-out cop with a dead brother, and you have his last murder.

The

Last Murder

This story began in a darker period of my life, and it carries that darkness honestly. It grew out of anger, frustration, and a desire to turn emotional pressure into something structured, human, and dramatic. When I adapted it from the novel Fear Beyond Reason, I also realized something about myself, I had said what I needed to say in this world, and I would be happier moving more toward humor than violence.

Author’s Note

On the day of his retirement, veteran detective Clay Connor learns that his younger brother Eddie has been brutally murdered, pulling him into the most personal case of his life. As the investigation unfolds, suspicion shifts from family tensions to a deeper web of insurance motives, deception, and cartel-linked crime. The trail leads to the powerful Montana family, where years of abuse, fear, and control erupt into a tragic and unexpected truth. The Last Murder ultimately reveals itself as a dark neo-noir about loss, buried pain, and the cost of uncovering the truth.
